Fire Starting And Grill Marks With A Grill Torch

One of the most written subjects on any outdoor cooking website is about the best way to start your charcoal.

There are many solutions and each of us are you use to do it our way and never think about an alternative until the method we used to is not available.

This can happen when you run out of charcoal starter blocks or have no crumbled up news paper that you can use under your chimney starter.

The other day, my friend Eddie van Aken and I had a conversation about how we both use different methods and why we thought we both had the best way to start our charcoal grill.

While we were talking about chimney starters and electric charcoal starters the subject changed to alternatives to use.

He told me that he wrote a whole article about the use of a grill torch to start charcoal and we decided to dig a little deeper in the subject.

By using a propane torch you don’t have to worry about placing your charcoal in a chimney or placing paper or tumble weed under your charcoal.

All you do is fire up the propane grill torch and aim it at your charcoal for a few minutes and, depending on the power of the torch, will start in no time.

One other advantage is that you can use the torch also as a creme brulee torch and torch your deserts.

I have been using one for a while now and I have a tip on how to use it on a steak.

Grill your steak at a low temperature until you are about 10 degrees from your desired internal temperature.

Now take the streak of the grill and use your grill torch to finish it and you will get that nice caramelized and grilled outside that we all like so much.

Let me know if you can think of anything else you can use a grill propane torch for.

I have already use it to start the wood in my wood stove inside.
